His Highness the Minister of Culture appoints Dr. Stefano Carboni as CEO of the Museums Authority

His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Culture, issued a decision appointing Dr. Stefano Carboni as CEO of the Museums Authority, which will organize the museums sector in the Kingdom and develop practitioners in it.

Mr. Carboni is considered one of the specialists in the field of museums, and he previously managed many museums and art galleries in the world, and won prestigious awards in the field of heritage, and he also worked at the Metropolitan Museum in New York for 16 years during the period from 1992 AD to 2008 AD, and he holds a degree PhD in Arabic language and Islamic art from the School of Oriental and African Studies of the University of London in 1992.

The Museums Authority comes within 11 new cultural bodies launched by the Ministry of Culture to manage the Saudi cultural sector in its various specializations. Dr. Carboni at the Museums Authority has multiple tasks that include drawing up a strategy for the sector, granting licenses in the field, encouraging financing and investment, approving professional training programs, in addition to designing relevant educational programs and providing scholarships for the talented. The authority will also cooperate and coordinate with the relevant authorities in order to support the protection of intellectual property rights in the fields related to the museums sector.
